Tavoris Cloud: I will defend my title and will not allow Jean Pascal to overthrow me – Boxing News
Tavoris Cloud, the current IBF light heavyweight champion, in a recent interview commented that he will come out of the ring victorious on August 11, 2012 and will not allow Jean Pascal to overthrow him adding that he has put a lot of hard work for this
fight and will put forth the boxing fans a memorable show.
Cloud and Pascal are scheduled to headline the pay-per-view jointly organised and promoted by the duo of Yvon Michel of GYM Promotions and Don King of Don King Productions.
The bout will not only have Cloud’s title on the line but will also have the vacant International Boxing Organization light heavyweight title up for grabs. The showdown will also witness Adonis Stevenson take on an opponent still to be decided in the co-main
event.
The ring for the extravaganza will be set up at Bell Centre, Montreal, Quebec, Canada and the show will be televised live on Showtime’s Saturday night weekly boxing show. Cloud and Pascal recently arrived at Canada and participated in the pre-bout press
conference.
Cloud, 30, has been in a total 24 bouts and boasts an undefeated win streak. Also known as the ‘Thunder’, Tavoris has nailed 19 of his opponents by knockout and will enter in his fifth title defence bout.
The Florida proud grabbed the vacant IBF light heavyweight title by nailing heavily experienced Clinton Woods via unanimous decision. Since then Tavoris has defended it successfully against Glen Johnson, Fulgencio Zuniga, Yusaf Mack, and Gabriel Campillo.
During the media interaction Cloud shared his sheer excitement in taking on an opponent with a perfect fight style and stated, “When I think about this fight, wow. Pascal’s style and my style are perfect for each other. It will be a h**l of a fight. Nevertheless,
I’m coming away with my title still intact. I’m just glad to be here. Montreal is a beautiful place. I’m putting in a lot of hard work for this fight and on Aug. 11, I look forward to putting on a great show for you guys. Pascal could think he is the gatekeeper
to bigger and better things for me, but I just come in and fight my fight.”
Cloud’s opponent, Pascal, 28, has been in a total 29 bouts and boasts 26 wins. The Canadian proud has nailed 16 of his opponents by knockout and proudly resides in the top ranks in his country’s divisional rankings.
