Tavoris Cloud: Jean Pascal’s injury is fake and quite disappointing – Boxing News
Tavoris Cloud, the current IBF light heavyweight champion, is unhappy with the recent postponement of his bout with Jean Pascal, the former WBC light heavyweight champion, so much so that in a recent media interaction cloud dubbed Pascal’s injury as fake
and an attempt to seek some more time for getting optimally prepared.
Cloud, who was scheduled to defend his title for the fifth consecutive time in a row, is uncertain about the veraciousness of the tiding regarding Jean Pascal’s hand getting injured as a result of which his August 11, 2012 engagement was postponed.
Things have taken a new twist after the announcement that at least has shocked the defending champion’s camp. According to the details, the news was revealed by Cloud’s trainer, Al Bonanni, who while informing ESPN commented that Don King, Cloud’s promoter
called in and revealed the bad news.
Bonnani stated, “Don called and told us the fight has been postponed but we're continuing to train.” Although, Yvon Michel, Pascal’s promoter has explained in detail the injury-scenario faced by Pascal still Cloud and his camp does not seem to be happy and
somewhat contended with the explanation.
According to the recent developments, the fight is most probably going to take place at some point in October, most probably on October 13, 2012 but the date and the venue is still not confirmed.
Furthermore, there are other certain technicalities which are making the occurrence of the bout on the above mentioned date quite questionable. No matter what the scenario is, only the Jean camp knows what the real inside story is.
As far as Cloud is concerned, the young American bashed his Canadian opponent dubbing the recent act as disappointing and an attempt to evade him in order to get appropriately prepared.
Also known as ‘The Thunder’, Cloud stated, “It’s disappointing, however, I don’t believe he has a hand injury. We believe he was unprepared for the fight on August 11 so he had to use politics and try to manoeuvre himself out of a beating. I’ll wait for
him. It gives me more confidence because I know I got the edge on him and I’m not gonna give up the edge. I'm gonna keep the pressure on him.”
It must be noted that Jean is already coming back after the lapse of almost 14 months. Pascal, who boasts 26 wins in a total of 29 bouts had been facing a tough time because of a series of injuries that have kept him continuously away from the ring.
The new date will be decided in the upcoming days as the broadcaster of the pay-per-view Showtime, is having some problems in televising the show on October 13, however, the venue will remain be the same that is Bell Centre arena Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
