Tax Liens in Texas?

My brother died 5/30/08. He was behind on his property taxes in Houston (Harris County) Texas. How long before a tax lien is put on the house?

Real property tax has the first claim on any property.  If not paid eventually the local tax collector will sell the property.  If there is a mortgage, the mortgage holder will generally pay the property tax and call the mortgage.  If the property is going to be sold and proceeds distributed to heirs, the property tax will be paid when the sale closes.

I had a lien put on my house as well from my wife. I worked with tax specialists to get it resolved and now I am on a payment plan after a small settlement and I do thank yahoo answers for helping me. I do think though that you may qualify (as they asked with me) for innocent spouse relief if you were unaware on the property taxes as you may not be liable for them. The property taxes were a lien on the property the day that they were due.  What you may be concerned about is the amount of time before the county sells the property for back taxes.  It would be good for the administrator of his estate to contact the county ASAP and inform them of his death and the intent to resolve this issue.  The administrator will also be able to learn how much his taxes were in the arrears.

I bought millions and millions of barrels of oil when they cost $60--$100 a barrel. I expect to make a kill when I sell. But right now it’s only over $140 a barrel. So here is my difficulty:

I have requested my agents spin the media, like: “Oil future looks high, expecting to be in the range of $200 a barrel soon”   But it does not work price up fast enough.

I have paid the mainstream media, the Think Tanks,  and the major PR talking heads,  to spin China and India (supply and demand) responsible for price hike, to deflect American public anger. But that does not go far enough.

Right now, I am extremely nervous and worried. I urgently need a prey to buy those “paper barrels” on my hording. So I can profit.  But where can I find my prey ?
