For the 2007 taxes I have filed and recieved a refund as well as a state refund. I sent in an ammended return in before april 15th to add my other 2 step daughters. is this going to delay my stimulus check? i did recieve a letter saying that my check for my wife and 1 step-daughter would be sent out on june 27th. but on the back is said something about a delay. when should i expect a stimulus check. i have heard many things. i am not understanding if i am only recieving a check for my original return why there is a hold on it. any info would be appreciated.

  1. An amended return WILL delay the stimulus check. This is in part because the IRS doesn't know if you will owe or not on the 1040X. Expect the stimulus payment to be released about a week after the 1040X is processed. The time frame for that is 8-12 weeks from receipt, but could take longer due to the tremendous backlog right now.

  2. when you amend your return it basically voids the first one. you will probably have to wait and will receive the entire amount all together

  3. When you ammend a return it caused the IRS computer system to think there is a duplicate return.  No refund will be issued including stimulus payments while there is a duplicate return.  When the ammendment finishes processing the duplicate designation is dropped and then you can get your refund.

  4. Your rebate check is based upon your original tax return filing.  You MIGHT get an additional rebate check based upon your amended tax return.

You will get your rebate check when you get it.  Be patient.
