Tax Write-Off For Organ Donors in CA?

Is there a tax write-off for organ donors in the state of California? A friend of mine suggested I check since my husband donated his kidney to me.

My guess is that you are not a registered charity so I dont think so. You cannot benefit from your donation. You cannot donate to a spouse.

Not even charitable mileage for the ride to the hospital because it was for the benefit of a particular individual.  Some things are done without regard to the lack of tax benefits.

A few states try to help out since a deduction for the medical expenses is pretty limited.
