How does this impact on the whole medicare levy thing?

I know if it was just me in the picture I wouldn't have to pay it or it would be reduced, but since I have a spouse and he doesn't have the insurance, will I have to pay more?

  1. It depends on your policy, but you have to pay slightly more. HOWEVER, the benefits are endless compared to not having insurance.

Get your husband on your insurance, seriously.

  2. the question is why do you have health insurance without your spouse's name on it

  3. u are not married. he pays 4 himself

  4. Uh, having health insurance doesn't mean that you don't pay INTO medicare at the same rate as anyone else.  And since you talk about being on your dad's insurance, I assume you are not already age 65 or over and ELIGIBLE for medicare.

  5. Perhaps You may google it first ,however, if you like some direct resource ,here might be your choosing.http://health-insurance.expert-tip.info/...

  6. I am guessing you are talking about the Medicare Levy Surcharge. Question - are your combined income more than the threshold? Are you a couple for the whole financial year? If so, both of you, not just him, would need to pay the medicare levy surcharge of 1%. If you are only a couple for part of the year, then you will need to apply the single threshold ($50,000) as well as the couple threshold ($100000) for the relevant periods.
