  1. Chase HMRC, I think they are open until about 8.00pm

Tel them you want it sorted out now and cannot afford delay.

Within a few days they will notify both employers of the tax code notification.

    (Tax year runs from 6th April08 to 5th April09)

*Tax refunds due for prior year are normally in the form of a cheque.

    * and for current tax year they adjust your tax code and spread it to the end of 2009 !

Tell HMRC that you want the refund due by cheque for the last tax year and this one. Why? because they will otherwise spread the money they owe you through to the next tax year. Why should they keep it? Its yours!

  2. I would follow this up. It may be better if you put your request in writing rather than phone. You would eventually get your money back, but you may as well have the use of it now as the Government.

  3. You should get money back at some point.  If you haven't got it back by the end of the tax year, when you get your P60(s) send them to the tax office with a covering letter asking for the money back.

Furthermore, write to them again to tell them what the situation is and that the correct code is being used for each job.
