  1. No tax write offs, unless you are a business, and buy supplies.  The benefits an individual gets, are lower electric bills and fewer replacement costs.  P.S. When referring to plural items (benefits, bulbs) use, are and not is.   Best wishes


  2. Since cfls will save you money directly, there's really no need for tax incentives. Consider a 20 watt cfl. It replaces a 75W incandescent and lasts 8000 hours versus 750 for the incandescent. If you pay $0.08 per kwh, that saves you $35 over the life of the bulb. You're also paying for one cfl versus ten regular bulbs and the hassle of changing them.

  3. There are no tax benefits, but make sure you recycle those compact fluorescent bulbs correctly.  They contain mercury.

  4. Only for windows and appliances.  Fluorescent light bulbs on 4 of your may lights will save you about $60.00 per year I read one time in Parade Magazine.  Your tax benefit would be about a penny.
