Tax cheque savings or credit card?

What should I do with my tax cheque this year?

I've been wanting to pay off my credit card and close it down so I can swap credit card banks but everytime I try to change they denie me because I dont have enough saving.

So I was thinking if I save up enough money and place it in my saving account to show that I can have money in the bank and not waste it then hopfully they would let me have have me approved to have there credit card.

But, with this tax cheque I can finally have my credit card paid off and then I would be debit free but I'd still need a credit card and it wouldnt be with the bank I want.

  1. Pay off your credit card even if you can't change banks. Then you won't have to pay interest each month, and isn't that why you want to change?
