Hi. Can I claim tax benefit on overseas property while I am working and paying taxes in India? The property is rented but the rent does not cover the mortgage. Thanks

  1. no,tax will be levied on yor income incur from overseas including property.

& NO DEDUTION WILL BE MADE FOR THAT ALSO.

  2. There is no U.S. tax benefit that I know of for your housing situation.

But your income tax is almost non-existing as an expatriate.

Check with the IRS, but last time I checked the first 88,000 that you make is not taxable. (You do have to pay local taxes of course)

Best of luck with your real estate.
