ok .......math question!?

it's been so long since i was in school.

which is greater?

$100.00 x .27%

or

$100.00 x .027%

I think i messed up on my unemployment taxes for my company. I had my taxes set at .27% and they should have been .027%. Is this going to make a 10% difference in what I should owe? Have I paid in too little?

give me some insight i am NOT a numbers person at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. State unemployment apparently for you is 2.7%.  When you are computing the total to transmit you multiply the taxabe amount times .027.

To answer your question, the greater of the two is 100 x .27%, but your correct tax should have been 100 x .027 .  Neither .27% NOR .027% is equal to .027.  .27% is equal to .0027 and .027% is equal to .0027.

You're getting the decimal equavalents of the percentages mixed up.

    2.7%    =  .027

    .27%    =  .0027

    .027%  =  .00027

    Hopes this helps.
