Tax return extension?

i did my taxes this yr on some online site and i must of screwed something up because the IRS or California never received my returns so can i still file an extension?

or do i have to wait until next yr ?

if i can still file now what forms do i need for federal extension and california extension?

  1. You must file tax return. If you have tax due you will pay interest and penalty. So file early.

  2. It's too late for an extinsion but you don't need one if you are getting a refund because there are no penalties for filing late if you don't owe.

  3. You have to file for an extension by the filing deadline of April 15th.  It's way too late for that.  It's not too late to file though so you should do so immediately.  There won't be any penalties if you are due a refund though there will be if you owe any tax when you file.

  4. You can not receive an extension if you have not file for that extension by April 15th.  You should file your return ASAP and it is helpful to do so before Oct. 15th.
