Taxes on student wages?

In was just wondering i live in canada and make 8.20/hour, how much will taxes take from my paycheck? i mean percentage;

ie. i make $100 how much would the gov take?

  1. The tax deducted depends on how much you are expected to make per pay period as employers use deductions tables (or the 1st link below which is an online calculator) to determine the amount of deductions. These deductions includes income taxes, EI and CPP.

    If you only make $100 per week say, the only deductions should be CPP and EI which work out to approximately 3% based on a yearly income of 5,200. (Unless you are under 18 in which case CPP is not deducted).

    If you believe you will make less than $9,600 per year you should not have income tax deducted from your pay. If you are having income tax deducted print out forms TD1 from the link below so you can request your employer to not deduct income tax from you (they will still deduct CPP and EI though). You will need to print out both the federal and provincial forms. Just make sure to check the box that says total income less than total claim amount. (You can find these forms on the 2nd link).
