I live in Los Angeles, have yet to go to New York...but always see on tv and stuff how EVERYONE takes taxi's because of the traffic, and never drive. Question... how does every New Yorker afford taking a taxi daily everywhere??

Are they way cheaper in NY or what? Because I couldn't imagine taking one everywhere in LA, unless I haddd to because I was drinking and didnt wanna drive, I dunno...

  1. That's just tv. Most people take the train or a bus. Taxi's can get expensive.

  2. They are cheaper in New York than they are here.  But not every New Yorker takes taxis everywhere.  The subway is fantastic in NYC.  You see it on TV and in Movies because it plays better to have someone get in a cab as opposed to the subway.

  3. Yes, Metropolitan Transit Authority, Bee-Line Bus, Roosevelt Island Operation Corporations provide cheap service.

Taxis are expensive, but not like in other places.

In Westchester County taxis can be expensive and also plus toll and fare.

Some people take mass transit because they're cheap.

Some people take taxis because it is not hassle.

Some people take regional rail because that is not expensive like taxis.

  4. Most New Yorkers don't take taxis all the time. They walk, take the subway, or take buses.

  5. No not everyone in NY takes a taxi. As a matter of fact there are a lot of people that live in NY boroughs and have/drive cars into manhattan. there are alot of commuters that drive from NJ, CT, PA, and upstate NY.

Most NYers take the train or a bus.

  6. that exagerated taxis are expensive i think it was $4 a mile but ny is much smaller city the la geograhically. In manhattan garages can easilt be $400 a month and the traffic is a mess

The city has an extensive subway system that is better and safer then on tv
