We are staying in a hotel 15 miles from the airport (Fiesta Inn) which does not have a shuttle. What is the best (safest) transporation from the airport? How do we make sure to get a taxi service that has established fares and is reliable?

  1. I live in Acapulco and suggest about 50 pesos for that ride and no more. Thats five US dollars and any guy will take that fare. Ther are more taxis here than I can shake a stick at trust me you will not have a problem. Enjoy yourselves and remember 50 pesos. Give me an e mail and Ill show you the real Acapulco and have some great bars and resturants that are hidden little gems here.

  2. D.M. is right, most cabs in most of the cities of mexico do not have a meter with the exception of Mexico city and Guadalajara....When it comes arourd Acapulco and most of the airports in Mexico they have exclusive taxis that are paid in advance inside the airport, the fair will be a little higher, they are safe, but be prepared to pay around 25 dlls +, cab fair with city taxis within acapulco charge at least 5 dlls for a small trip...

there is also a minivan service at the airport called: "colectivo" they take as many people that can fit in a suburban with different destinations along a route, those are cheaper and ,if my memory don't play tricks on me they charge something like 7 usd or 70 pesos per person.

  3. Having traveled to Mexico many times, all the cabs at the airports are safe but negotiate the price before you get in the cab because they don't have meters like in the US. You can also haggle to use one specific cab for tours, etc.
