  1. Get the Edinburgh Shuttle for £27.

Edinburgh Shuttle is a door to door shared transport service between Edinburgh Airport and the City. A fleet of spacious 7 seat mini-coaches run a daily service every 15 minutes and pick up and drop off at any address within the Shuttle’s City zone. Generous luggage space and excellent value fares – only £9.00 for an individual, door to door, with reduced rates for passengers travelling together to the same destination (pair £17.00 then add £5 for each extra passenger).

    BOOK ONLINE or call 0845 500 5000

To Edinburgh Airport:   the service runs daily every 15mins between 5.00am and 10.30pm (to 8.30pm on Saturday)

To Edinburgh City Centre:   the service runs every 15mins between 5.30am and 10.30pm (to 8.30pm on Saturday)

Journey takes approx 30 minutes (no service on 25th Dec)

The benefit of taking this shuttle is that they can take all of your luggage for no extra cost. Taxis charge for all luggage carried outwith the cab. Most taxis will not take the luggage you have. They don't have the space.

  2. Nope any black cab will carry that and the price from central Edinburgh to the airport will be around 20 pounda plus tip

  3. A standard taxi should take all that at a push, but there are many of the bigger seven seater type around now, certainly all the major firms such as central cabs (0131 229 2468) have them, so mention it when booking to be safe.

Taxi to the airport will normally be £15 tops, you may have a few pounds of extras for all the bags, full capacity.

The Edinburgh Shuttle is owned by the local bus company and seems to make reasonable sense for a single traveller who doesnt know where they are going (£9). But as they wont leave the moment you get in, must follow a fixed route between airport and city centre, and then may be dropping people off before you, I am mystified why anyone would pay MORE to use them than a taxi service, as is the case when there are two or more of you.

I think their business plan is based on suspicion of taxis generally.

There are also good bus options of course - this page has the details to/from the city centre and links for he airport:
