A friend recently told me that there is a law that requires taxi drivers to transport people who are too drunk to drive, regardless of their ability to pay. I live in California, is this true?

  1. Not true. Taxis are just another business. Public transportation (bus, subway) may have some rules on this. If the person is drunk outside then they fall under public intoxication. The driver may be required to contact the law in that situation. If the police are feeling nice they may give the person a free ride home but I wouldn't bet on that.

Plus if that was true then everybody would claim to not have any money.

  2. its possible, i mean it is the Peoples Republic of California, coming soon with a new hammer and sickle red flag

  3. I live in California and I have never herd of it...I figure if you can buy your liquor then you can pay for your cab

  4. not in the uk

  5. I have never heard of such a law, and I don't believe there is such a law.

  6. In some states because they get incentives from the city by doing this and yes in most states during Christmas but on just a regular day no, you pay the charges.
