I gave my car to my daughter when she pasted her test. The tax is now up for renewal. The logbook is now in her name but the insurance is in my name with her as a named driver. Can she still tax this car?

  1. Yes, it has MOT and an insurance certificate.

  2. Great website, resourceful,user-friendly should be able to answer your questions.http://carinsurance.expertsupport.info/a...

  3. Not a problem. The logbook only shows the registered keeper.  It's no different to being a named driver on someone elses policy. The problem occurs if there are two insurance policies on the same car as that is illegal.

  4. Yes. I am in the same situation. She will be able to tax the car.

  5. Be careful.  If the car is now your daughter's property and she is the registered keeper, presumably she's the principal user. The insurance must be in her name.  You will have declared who the user is when you took out the insurance, if they find out that's changed and no-one's advised them the insurance  will be void.

  6. Yes, as long as someone's insured to drive it, taxing it isn't a problem.

However, I assume your insurance company knows that the insurer & registered keeper are different, as if not, this usually invalidates your insurance.

  7. Yes, as long as there is an insurance policy in force for the vehicle, it can be taxed.
