Question:

Taxis in Thailand are fueled by Gasoline and a fuel in a cylinder, does anyone know what this fuel is?

Why don't we use it here in the USA?

  1. Propane - Same fuel as used in fork lifts.  Propane is used in fork lifts as it does not give off carbon monoxide as fork lifts are used inside.

    We use gasoline  because it is cheaper as we have the refineries here.  Also the high octane requirement/power required for cars.  Those taxis in Thailand don't go that fast.

In the 80's there was a large move towards using propane as an alternative fuels.Here in Canada the government gave a  rebate of around $2000.00 towards the conversion.A large amount of stations were put up to fuel these vehicles but have since started to disappear as the fuel has become unpopular with the public.If popularity grows on this topic then you know the government will raise the price of propane much the same as gas.Right now its  very few that have and use this old great conversion system that makes the old internal combustion engion  run smoother and a lot cleaner.
