Taylor Made R7 Golf Driver question. Is the "Draw" driver a good driver and is a standard shaft good

had my speed measured at a golf shop. they said I have a 83 MPH swing and suggested the standard shaft. I saw they had a Taylor made R7 Draw driver that seemed to be real nice. $199. Is this a good selection? my handicap is 15. thanks

  1. do you hit a draw? most shops will let ya try it out first but they ussally make you buy it then give you a few days to return it if its not right for you

  2. The difference in the draw type of the R 7 is weighting in the club head. Depending on your age i would say if your young dont get a driver that assist you in drawing the ball because you have plenty of time to practice and as you get better will want to work the ball both ways.

For 83 mph a standard shaft should be ok.

  3. The shaft recommendation sounds right for an 83 MPH swing.  The draw bias club is for someone who fades or slices the ball and no matter what they do can't correct the problem so the club will allow them to hit it straighter.  Unless you have a problem hitting the ball straight you might want to stay away from the draw clubface.  If you tend to draw or hook the ball that draw club will go further left.

  4. i used the normal R7 460 driver, which is very long and far, i also uses the stock shaft, but my is tour shaft, which is even stiffer if you are using a Stiff flex,

If you are a hard hitter and which to get the standard shaft, then you should get the Tour platform, because if you would to take the normal ones, was told that they are rather wippy,
