Taylor McKeown captures Girls 200m IM gold – 2013 GHSF Australian Championships
Taylor McKeown of AUST Crawl captured gold medal of the Girls 200m Individual medley (IM) in 17-18 years old category on fourth day of the 2013 GHSF Australian Age Swimming Championships in SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Adelaide on Thursday, April 11.
The 18-year-old McKeown showed no mercy to her opponents in the IM discipline and rushed her way towards the finishing end for gold medal. With her astonishing pace, she remained in a prominent lead over her closest competitor and tapped the wall for the
title.
McKeown stayed nearly one and a half body length ahead of her closest competitor and touched the wall for first position with the timing of 2 minutes and 14.44 seconds.
The champion was chased by Hayley Baker of Melbvicentre, who stayed 1.70 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing end for silver medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.14 seconds.
Third fastest spot of the race was obtained by Samantha Wilkins of Waterlions, who was only two strokes apart and settled on the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.41 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Kotuku Ngawati of Melbvicentre, who was 0.28 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.69 seconds.
Fifth finest spot of the race was obtained by Tianni Gilmour of Pelican Waters, who was just 0.11 seconds slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.80 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Carla Buchanan of Acacia, who was 0.45 seconds behind and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 17.25 seconds.
Buchanan was chased by Chris Licciardi of Melbvicentre, who was 3.40 seconds apart and posted a time of 2 minutes and 20.65 seconds for seventh position.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by Samantha Abbott of UNSW, who was 0.19 seconds apart and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 20.84 seconds.
Furthermore, McKeown received a huge round of applause from the audience for her notable pace and received accolades after the session.
