Taylor McKeown captures Girls 400m IM gold – 2013 GHSF Australian Championships
Taylor McKeown of Aust Crawl captured gold medal of the Girls 400m Individual Medley (IM) in 17 to 18-year-olds category on day two of the 2013 GHSF Australian Age Swimming Championships in SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Adelaide on Tuesday, April 9.
The 18-year-old McKeown showed no mercy to her opponents in the distant IM discipline as she raced her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal.
With her exceptionally strong efforts, she remained in a prominent lead over her closest competitors and hit the finishing end for the title with the timing of 4 minutes and 45.05 seconds.
The gold medallist was traced by Laura Crockart of Ryde-Carlile, who was 3.32 seconds apart and tapped the wall for second position with the timing of 4 minutes and 48.37 seconds.
The second fastest swimmer was followed by Samantha Wilkins of Waterlions, who was almost two seconds apart and tapped the wall for bronze medal by posting a time of 4 minutes and 50.35 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Hayley Baker of Melbvicentre, who stayed two body lengths slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 52.26 seconds.
The 17-year-old Baker was followed by Mikka Sheridan of Nudgee, who stayed 3.75 seconds apart and sprinted her way towards the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 55.01 seconds for fifth place.
Sixth position of the event was secured by Tianni Gilmou of Pelican Waters, who was 1.60 seconds slower from her former finisher and posted a time of 4 minutes and 56.61 seconds.
Seventh fastest spot of the event was obtained by Hayley Anschau of Blacktown city, who was nearly two and a half body length behind and posted an effort of 4 minutes and 59.12 seconds.
Last position of the race was obtained by Emma Be Jensen of Playford, who was almost four seconds slower and concluded her race in eighth place by reporting a time of 5 minutes and 03.04 seconds.
Furthermore, McKeown expressed happiness over her victory and received medal after the session.
