Taylor Serna wins Girls 200-yard IM title: 2011 High School State Championships, Cottonwood
Taylor Serna and DJ Tice impressed the arena at the NSCIF Division II Championships in Cottonwood, California, on Wednesday, October 26. The results of the 2011 High School State Championships were published on Wednesday, November 2. Serna grabbed the Girls
200-yard Individual Medley title, while DJ Tice claimed Boys 200-yard Individual Medley crown.
Taylor Serna presented a great show during last weekend while combating with her rivals, Halle Ohlin and Lauren Rulofson in a vital encounter. The final race kicked off in amazing fashion with the scintillating splash of Taylor Serna against her contestants,
but Serna gave her best attempt and thrashed the finishing barrier in a mouth shattering blot of 2 minutes and 34.93 seconds to win the Girls 200-yard IM title.
In the meantime, Ohlin did not lose her confidence in the respective race and splashed hard in the pool to pocket silver medal in an impressive mark of 2 minutes and 35.19 seconds. The bronze title went to Lauren Rulofson in a winning blot of 2 minutes and
42.68 seconds.
Marie Scholl put up her best performance in the respective swim and picked fourth spot by hitting the finishing blockade in a time of 2 minutes and 45.12 seconds. Allison Lafayette earned fifth place honours by posting a time of 2 minutes and 45.80 seconds,
whereas, Margaret Pressman settled at sixth spot in a mark of 2 minutes and 52.31 seconds.
Additionally, the Boys 200-yard Individual Medley crown was clinched by DJ Tice in a stunning mark of 2 minutes and 05.69 seconds and Steven Jordan claimed second position by touching the finishing cordon in a time of 2 minutes and 06.77 seconds. Meanwhile,
the third spot went to Justin Nitzkowski in a winning mark of 2 minutes and 14.95 seconds.
Spencer Reed earned fourth place honours by claiming the finishing cordon in a time of 2 minutes and 20.79 seconds, while Caleb McGowan pocketed fifth position in a matchless mark of 2 minutes and 33.15 seconds. Moreover, Zach Williams finished sixth in
a blot of 2 minutes and 36.33 seconds. Matt Wallace picked seventh position in a mark of 2 minutes and 36.62 seconds, whereas, Daniel Roberts earned eighth position in a time of 2 minutes and 43.60 seconds.
