Taylor Solorio captures Girls 200 yard IM gold medal – Swimming news
Taylor Solorio of Highland High School-CC captured gold medal of Girls 200 yard Individual Medley (IM) on first day of the 2013 High School State Swimming Championships (CIF Central Division 2) on Wednesday, May 22.
Solorio met expectations of her supporters by dominating the playoff of the event. She faced tough contest from her following swimmer but managed to reach the wall for first position.
She remained half a body length ahead of her following swimmer and occupied gold medal with an effort of 2 minutes and 05.41 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Mallory Korenwinder of Tulare Western High School, who was 0.48 seconds slower from her former finisher and clocked an effort of 2 minutes and 05.89 seconds.
The second best finisher was followed by Emily Goodbar of Kingsburg High School, who was nearly five seconds behind and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 10.46 seconds for bronze medal.
Third best finisher was followed by Davis Lauren of Edison Tigers, who was nearly three seconds slower and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 13.67 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Allyson Duffy of Hanford West High School-CC, who was considerably slower and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 17.76 seconds for fifth place.
Similarly, Duffy was followed by Haley Hopper of Exeter Union High School, who was almost full body length behind and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 18.94 seconds for sixth place.
Seventh position of the race was obtained by Carly Innis of Strathmore High School-CC, who stayed five body lengths behind and emerged on the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 23.36 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Allison Ross of Tulare Union High School, who clocked a time of 2 minutes and 25.02 seconds.
In addition, Solorio expressed happiness over her victory in the 200 yard IM discipline while the position holders were invited on the medal rostrum for medals and accolades at the prize distribution ceremony after the race.
