Taylor V Pavlik..who really won?

It was a close decision in many eyes, BUT the official judges.(the had a unanimous decision for Pavlik)

My scorecard was 115-113 Pavlik, which a couple of rounds could have gone either way, but I gave them to Pavlik. So it could easily been scored 114-114 draw, or even 115-113 Taylor.

What was your score card and who did you have winning the fight?

  1. I had the fight scored 116-112 in Pavlik's favor. There were a lot of tough rounds to score, but most of them I gave to the champion.

  2. i was saying the same thing i actually had 115-113 taylor

  3. I scored the fight 116-112 Pavlik, i just think Taylor did not do enough to win the fight, although he was the quicker of the two, he was not busy enough, Pavilik just never stopped punching, he just kept busy through the whole fight, Taylor did land the harder and crispier punches, he was just not doing enough of it.

  4. Pavlik won, but barely.  Like you said, there were a few rounds that could just as easily gone to Taylor instead of Pavlik.  Taylor was surviving in the later rounds.  Pavlik was just too much for Taylor.  But again, not by too much!  Good fight!

  5. 116-112 Pavlik. The only reason the fight went the way it did is because Taylor fought to survive. After the first round Taylor's game plan changed. Pavlik pressured him all night long and the fight was not close. Taylor had his moments but they were all too few. Kelly made the fight and got a deserved W.

  6. taylor...i have a gutsy feeling he would win..

  7. I had Pavlik 115-113.

Just because the judges had it a unanimous decision doesn't mean it wasn't close. They could have all had it 115-113 for Pavlik (I don't remember the exact scores, but I know at least one of them was close.) Unanimous decision just means they all thought Pavlik won. They don't get together and talk about how they thought each round was.

  8. BOTH fighters stepped up their game, but were more defensively minded. . . . keeping the real fireworks at bay until the later rounds.  I scored it 116-112 for Pavlik, but I agree that some rounds were close.  I've always believed that you have to BEAT the champion. . . so in that regard, the right man won.  WAY TO GO KELLY!!!

  9. If all the rounds 1-10 were even and Pavlik just edged the last two rounds (which Taylor admitted he had) Pavlik must have won by 2 points.

  10. 116-112

    8 rounds to 4

    kelly pavlik

taylor should have kept sticking to his jab in the later rounds if he wanted to win. pavlik completely out boxed jermain. the winner of the earlier rounds were questionable but as the fight went on it was completely one sided. Kelly stuck to his jab and jermain kept eating that jab and then in the end of each round he would just rally and throw a upper cut and a couple of hooks. But kelly blocked a lot of those nor did they really do any damage. I do congratulate taylor on this he was great at staying away from the ropes.

  11. 116-112 pavlik, he won 3 of the last 4 rounds easily, taylor fought a really good fight and stuck to his plan but pavlik was landing the jab and the right hand behind it all night

  12. I'm a taylor fan, but you have to give a close fight to Pavlik if for nothing more than to preserve his record. I would have liked to see a draw, but I am not upset with the judges decision.

Both fighters put on a good show and there was more "boxing" rather than a slug fest so we got 12 rounds of nail biting lol
