Taylor to remain at St. James’ Park
Steven Taylor has signed a new contract with Newcastle, that will see the defender remain at St.James’ park until 2016. There had been intense speculation over Taylor’s future at the club in recent weeks, and a few premier league rivals were reported to
be in the race to lure the defender away from St.James Park. The 24-year-old was transfer-listed earlier this season, when negotiations over a new contract came to a standstill. However, the new five-and-a-half year deal means that the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 under-21
skipper has now committed his future to Newcastle.
Taylor now joins a host of fellow Newcastle players, who have signed long-term contracts recently. The likes of Mike Williamson, Nile Ranger, and striker Andy Carroll have also committed their future to the club in recent weeks. It will be fantastic news
for Alan Pardew, who took over at a turbulent time for Newcastle. Pardew had the unenviable job of succeeding http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Hughton as manager, and had to bear the backlash from the fans, which followed Hughton’s sacking.
Steven Taylor confirmed the deal, saying, “I am absolutely delighted to have agreed terms with the club on a new long-term contract, that will see me play for Newcastle United in my prime years. I joined the club as a boy and feel confident that I can fulfill
all my professional ambitions here at my hometown club. Also (I would like to thank former boss) Chris Hughton for bringing me back into the team, (and ) Alan Pardew who made it clear from day one that he wanted me to stay at the club.”
Now that the speculation over Andy Carroll and Steven Taylor has come to an end, Alan Pardew can focus on bringing Newcastle’s season back on track, as the Toons look to secure a place in the Europa League next season. Their next match is a tough away game
at White Hart Lane. Alan Pardew will hope his stars can put the last few weeks behind them, and really give Tottenham a run for their money.
