Taylor von Kriegenbergh finishes Day 2 at the third spot – WPT Venice 2011
Excitement kept building at the WPT (World Poker Tour) Venice, as the Day 2 of the tournament finished on Thursday with just 40 out of 213 players alive in the race for the $841,345 prize pool. The only member of the elite WPT Champions Club to finish in
the Top-10 was Taylor von Kriegenbergh, who ended up at number three, with 326,900 chips, on the leaders’ board. Tuesday’s chip leader, Andrea Dato, couldn’t held his lead on Day 2 and wrapped up the proceeding by holding the fourth spot in
the standings, with 282,500 chips in the bag.
Kriegenbergh was the last participant of the night to enroll himself in the exclusive 300 club, claiming the fourth spot in the tournament standings. The champion of the WPT inaugural edition of Seminole Hard Rock Showdown in Florida in season IX, Kriegenbergh,
crushed a number of participants to build his huge pile of stacks and also eliminated Vincenzo Natale in the process. The official leaders’ board after Day 2 of WPT Venice is:
1.       Wanny Piazza                      373,500
2.       Marvin Rettenmaier             330,000
3.       Taylor von Kriegenbergh    326,900
4.       Andrea Dato                        282,500
5.       Michele Caroli                      279,000
6.       Fernando Cimaglia              266,200
7.       Johan Guilbert                     233,000
8.       Ronnie Bardah                     225,000
9.       Alejandro Sanchez               217,400
10.   Steve O’Dwyer                       197,900

Taylor von Kriegenbergh winning the three-way tussle
The hand started off with Kriegenbergh raising the bet earlier on, followed by successive raises by Kristijonas Andrulis and Vincenzo Natale. After a couple of rounds of bet raisings, the flop finally fell on the board with a nine of diamonds, five of spades
and four of hearts.
Kriegenbergh : ace of spades, queen of spades

Andrulis          : ace if hearts, king of diamonds

Natale             : queen of hearts, jack of hearts
Andrulis was favourite for the hand until a queen of diamonds tarnished his excitement, leaning the favour towards Kriegenbergh, with Natale still hoping to see a jack on the river. An eight of hearts left both players’ hearts popped to their mouths, as
Kriegenbergh reigned supreme with his pair of queens to win the pot. Dejected Natale pulled himself out of the chair to leave the table after a disappointing elimination.
Kriegenbergh – 325,000

Andrulis          – 65,000

Natale             – eliminated
