  1. The red is a slightly lower compression, probably around 90, whereas the black will be at about 100.  ALL golf manufacturers now use the black/red/blue color codes for compressions of their balls.  Black 100/red 90+ and blue 80+.

As far as are they comparable to the Prov V's?  I've played the reds (never the black) and I like them very much.  IMO the PRO V is over rated for the average golfer.  If you're not a 10 cap or better don't bother spending the money.

  2. The TP Black is a higher spinning golf ball that compares to the Pro V. I have played both golf balls and i couldnt tell the difference when it hit them side by side, i was shooting the same scores with both golf balls. But now that i use a hard golf ball, the TP Red compares to the Pro V1x. it is slightly longer off the tee, but the Pro V1X has a better feel around the green. Depending on what you like, depends on which ball you play. I spin the ball a lot with all of my clubs, so i play a harder ball, which means i would choose the TP Red ball. But my friend doesnt spin the ball as much, and he uses the TP Black Ball.
