Taylors Sky wins “Greyhound of the Year award”
Taylors Sky walked away with ‘Greyhound of the Year 2011’ award in a glamorous awards show held at Park Plaza Riverbank Hotel, London, on the night of January 22.

The iconic title was conferred upon the dog for his outstanding victory in the Willimhill.Com Greyhound Derby, coupled with two category one titles.
Owned by Steve and Becki Taylor, the white and blue dog is trained by Charlie Lister. Throughout 2011, the veteran and talented hound unleashed fabulous performances at different race tracks across Great Britain.
Overall, the dog sealed 12 out of 17 racing events he took part in. Most of these successes came in the Ladbrokes Gold Cup and Primus Telecom Derby, held at Monmore and Henlow, respectively.
Whelped in March 2009 to Westmead Hawk and Rising Angel, the gifted dog has brought home a number of ace titles and honours so far. His victory ratio has been excellent.
Taylors Sky, more often than not was sent as the favourite runner in most his races, drawing big bankrolls.

With his inherent skills and tremendous techniques, he lived up to his odds and hardly disappointed the people who had betted on him.
After the top honours last night, his owners were greatly pleased. The trainer was also excited over his trainee’s accomplishment.
During the ceremony, the winner earned immense applause and best wishes for the calendar year.

Among other notable award winners was included Eden Star, who got the ‘Racing Post-sponsored Best Track Newcomer’ award for  notching up third position in the Standard Division race. This dog is trained by Barrie Draper who also owns him.
Another hound of the Draper Kennel, Capoley Ash, also won an award for his marvellous performances last year. He is owned by Maurice Elliott and Edna Slatcher.
Blonde Fletch walked away with The ‘Widest-margin Category’ award. This hound is owned by Mark Currell and trained by Mark Wallis.
The ‘Coral-sponsored Trainer of the Year’ award was presented to Chris Allsopp.
As a whole, it was a nice award ceremony, attended by a number of renowned trainers and owners of the British greyhound community.
