Tayshaun Prince, Chuck Hayes: 10 players who can encourage Dwight Howard to stay at Orlando Magic
Part-3
Tayshaun Prince
Tayshaun Prince was picked by the Detroit Pistons in the 2002 NBA Draft. After his rookie season, Prince polished his game and established himself as one of the best power forwards in the league. Prince played all of his 9 seasons with the Pistons and has
matured as a prolific scorer.
In the last regular season, Tayshaun averaged 14.1 points and 4.2 boards. One of the most dominating aspects of Prince is the long-arms he carries, which enables him to defend the best scorers of the opposition. This is what exactly Orlando Magic are looking
for.
Prince can infuse some energy at the back of the court and with Dwight Howard on his side; breaking through the defence will be almost an impossible task. In addition to that, Prince can also provide the Magic an extra offensive option, one they are desperately
searching for at the moment.
Chuck Hayes
The 28 year old Chuck Hayes might not be the tallest centre in NBA; however this doesn’t restrict him from dominating the glass. The 6 feet 6 inch centre who plays for Houston Rockets, is among the very few players who have made the centre position their
own despite of being undersized. An average of 8.1 boards in the last regular season with the Rockets shows his prowess.
If the Magic is looking to introduce someone on the centre to support Howard, Hayes is a good fit for a strong defensive presence. Chuck and Dwight can crash the boards which will turn Orlando a beast on the paint.
Shane Battier
Memphis Grizzlies’ small forward Shane Battier is another defensive solution for the Orlando Magic who knows how to hamper the best offensive players of the league. A clutch performer is what Magic needs at the moment as Battier’s immense experience with
the clutch performances is the answer for their call.
The 32 year old Shane can offer a shoulder to the big man Howard in sustaining the pressure against the big teams. Battier might not be a prolific scorer however he keeps on trying big shots which puts a lot of pressure on the opposition once he starts to
connect those shots.
 Jason Richardson
Instead of looking for someone out of the team, the Orlando Magic can go with option of keeping their first year shooting guard Jason Richardson who had an impressive last season with the team. Richardson is an all-round performer who carries the team on
both the ends of the court.
Jason averaged 13.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals during the 55 games he played with the team. Richardson definitely performed a lot better than Gilbert Arenas and Hedo Turkoglu who are taking a handsome salary from the franchise.
Keeping Jason even if the team have to offer some money will be a good choice who truly provided some support to the superstar Dwight Howard.
