Tayshaun Prince - Top unrestricted free agents in NBA this off-season (Part-1)
The dark clouds in the National Basketball Association keep getting murkier with each passing day considering no progress has yet been made to end the lockout. In this ambiguous situation, the NBA franchises are left with one option
which is to plan their move is signing or re-signing unrestricted free agents from the market this off-season.
Followed by one of the weakest NBA Draft this year, the teams are looking forward to find some superior talent from the free agency which was postponed due to the work stoppage.
Whenever the league will get back to business, the free agency will feature a number of talents who are sure to find a good deal before the beginning of the next season. Here is a list of some top unrestricted free agents in NBA
this off-season.
Small Forward Tayshaun Prince
After spending a decent career in the University of Kentucky Wildcats, the veteran small forward Tayshaun Prince was selected by the Detroit Pistons with 23rd overall pick during the 2002 NBA Draft. Since then, the 31
year old Prince has played nine seasons of his NBA career in Pistons’ uniform.
After a slow start in the rookie season, Prince enhanced his performance to a level which helped Detroit Pistons continuously in the regular season to befall in the top eight in the Eastern Conference.
During the 2010-2011 season, Prince played 78 games and averaged 14.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Tayshaun is a decent shooter from the field and from beyond the arc and is also a good defender who always makes the life difficult
for the opposition on the D.
Tayshaun Prince is neither the best unrestricted free agent this off-season nor is he a game winner however his consistency throughout the NBA career is what makes him very special. Prince does not try to be what he is not and
concentrates on his everyday performances which enable him to contribute for the team consistently.
Detroit Pistons coach John Kuester has seen Prince develop into an impressive basketball player over the period of nine years and commended Tayshaun as a dependable player.
"I came here in '04 watching him develop as a basketball player. I think the one thing I look at him has been consistency. He’s had a consistent career throughout. He always ends up guarding one of the better guards or forwards.
He’s been a solid citizen. He’s somebody you can rely on night in and night out." Kuester said.
Although Detroit Piston is thinking to re-sign their superstar for the next season however the franchise also stated that they will be considering other option in the market as well.
Any team who is looking to strengthen their supporting cast in order to help their game winners, Prince is the best option for those teams. Even lowly teams of the league can benefit from Tayshaun’s consistency and substantial
experience in NBA.
While many franchises will be eyeing to acquire the brilliance of Tayshaun Prince, it seems like the veteran small forward will be happy if Detroit Pistons re-sign him once again where he has spent his whole career.
Prince stated in a news conference that it means a lot to him to play nine seasons for one team. "It’s meant a lot to me. Not too many people get the opportunity to play five, six, seven, eight, nine years in a row with one team,
especially the team that drafted you. It’s meant a lot.
