Tdap shot and anesthetic cream?

Question

Is it possible to use an anesthetic cream when you get a tdap shot?!!!?

If so, how do you get the cream in a hurry? :-)

I work in a Pediatrics office, and my docs would never use a numbing gel for a shot... it's so quick!  If you speak to the doctor before the visit, you can try and ask for some Lidocaine or something. If not (which is my guess) just hold an icepack on the area for a few minutes prior to getting the shot.
