  1. There is a restaurant with a great terrasse on the steps to the side of Montmartre, so it is very quiet and has lots of trees around, it is lovely.  Not very expensive and good value.

    L' Ete en Pente Douce

    23, rue Muller - Paris 75018

    Tel : 01 42 64 02 67

    Fax : 01 46 06 25 67

    Subway : Anvers

You need to reserve in advance.

  2. La Closerie des Lilas : restaurant + brasserie( less expensive), you can also have tea in the afternoon. Its address is : 171 boulevard du Montparnasse.  6 th arrondissement :  St Germain / Luxembourg. Tube station = Port Royal.

It's called : "the pleasure garden of the lilacs". Famous people have sat there and you can see some famous names written on the tables (mainly in the brasserie), such as : Henry James, Apollinaire, Picasso, Hemingway...

Sometimes, at night, you can listen to the jazz pianist.

Unfortunately, the garden may not be open in spring. But if it is sunny and open, you can have a drink outdoors.

    I love this place...

  3. Sadly, one of the best tea rooms, Au Cour de Rohan was closed when I was there last spring. perhaps one of the following will do:

The Tea Caddy 14, rue Saint Julien le Pauvre, 5e

Mariage Frères, 30 rue du Bourg Thibourg, 4e

    L'Artisan de Saveurs, 72, rue du Cherche-Midi, 6e

Le Bar à Thé, 9, rue Antoine Vollon, 12e

There is also a very nice tea room inside the main Paris Mosque (La Mosquée de Paris) at 39 rue St-Hilaire, 5e.
