Tea...stained..paper? HELP!?

Soo im trying to tea stain paper for a project and then burn it...how do i do this?

I tired by using a big baking pan puting luke warm water in it putting a tea bag in it and then putting the paper in it..it did not change color and fell apart in my harnd...

also..do i need to wet the edge before burnign it?!

  1. Brew the tea seperate, then pour it over the paper. If you fold the paper into a small square (like you would to put it in your pocket) you will get some cool darker lines along the folds. Flatten the paper before you soak it with the tea. Let it sit for 30 minutes, longer if you want a darker color, then pour out excess and let it dry (can dry quicker in oven set at lowest heat). To burn edges, use lighter and start an edge. Put it out when you have desired burn n that area. Repeat around edges until you have the desired look. You may want to do this outside, just in case you let it go too long so you won&#039;t burn down your house.


  2. Try brewing a strong tea, and then use a brush to apply it to the paper.  It may take several coats until you get the level of staining you like.  Also, make sure you&#039;re using the right kind of paper.  I would think that a matte finish would accept the stain more easily than a kid finish would.
