Is it possible to teach my pony tricks?

Tricks that don't take a genius to do (horse and human :D).

  1. There are a few "tricks". Something you could try is teaching your pony to "shake" by lifting one of his front legs while crouching in front of him (not kneeling incase you have to get out the way fast) and saying "shake" clearly, then praising him. Do this a couple of times a day until he gets the hang of it, just make sure to practice so that he doesn't forget. There are some more complicated tricks but I don't know how to teach them lol :) x

  2. Yes of course you can teach him tricks!

srry thats really the only thingi could find that didnt look really hard. There was bowing, and rearing, but that looks REALLY HARD!

  3. I taught my mare how to shake using pretty much the same method seen here.  I am working on bowing with my mare right now. Since she already knows how to shake, and pick up certain legs on command, so what I do is ask her to pick up one of her front legs, and I take a treat and let her follow my hand with the treat down in between her legs. She bows, it is a long slow process, but very fun to teach!

There is a great book called Trickonometry that has a bunch of neat tricks to teahc your horse.  My friends horse will smile when you wiggle your finger.  Very cute!

  4. Counting, Yes, No, Bow, Rearing, Yeilding to Pressure, Pick up all feet, etc. Tricks must all be done SAFELY and with training.

  5. Someone posted on the the next page over (i think) about teaching their horse to bow. Maybe check that out?
