  1. Hi!

I think your best bet would be to look into something like geocities.com.  But, your state may already have the resources you desire to compile this web site.  In New York State we have NYLearns.org.  Look into yahoo angelfire, etc.. but it would be best to check with your schools policies regarding blocking.  MySpace might be a great place to post IF it is not blocked.  The same for many other sites.  Also, what you post as a professional for your school, may be rightfully monitored by your school.

HTML info is out there.  It is amazingly easy.  Don't hesitate to try to learn it.

  2. www.blogmeister.com

Email them your school info and they will provide a free passcode to sign up.  You have a lot of space and can create accounts for each of your students.  Very user friendly, and you can moderate the space so that the students cannot post anything inappropriate.

  3. Make a Wetpaint Website it's free, easy, and fun =D( www.wetpaint.com

Two Ways to Bring Social Publishing to Your Brand

    - Injected- Learn More

    - Hosted - Learn More

Because 10,000 Heads Are Better Than One

Get all the benefits of the leading social publishing platform and allow anyone to contribute and be actively involved with your brand. Your online visitors will no longer be just exposed to your brand, they will be engaged with it. Involvement not only benefits them, but their activity benefits your company as well by making you more money.

“Compared with blogs or normal Web sites, my Wetpaint wiki felt much more alive and exciting…(it) can easily be adjusted and enhanced by anyone who views it.” — The Mossberg Solution, The Wall Street Journal

    What is a social website?

A social website is a type of website with pages that anyone can edit and contribute to, including text, photos, videos, polls, and more. Unlike most websites that only technically savvy programmers can create, social websites can be easily worked on within your web browser. Because many people can contribute to a social website, the content grows quickly as a result of collaboration. Users can easily and quickly build on the work of others by adding new content—and even new pages—to the social website.

As with any group project having multiple contributors, accountability is important. So, every change made to a social website is recorded. As easily as content can be added, content can be removed and the page reverted to a previous version. Most social websites also provide various permission levels that can allow people to edit and view only certain pages that you select.

Social websites are ideal for groups of people who are connected by a common interest and need to collaborate. Instead of sending email back and forth, a social website can be used to centralize the knowledge of a group. Because the social website can be edited by anyone with the proper permissions, you can keep everyone in your group up-to-date and actively involved.

Wetpaint Injected content is integrated directly into your server’s web pages. Because of this your website gets full credit for the content from the search engines. You get all this simply by adding a few lines of code to your website.

So How Does Wetpaint Injected Work?

To make the integration as easy as possible, Wetpaint handles the server infrastructure for you. This means you don’t have to add any software, servers or databases to your website. You add a few lines of code into the Head and Body of your server pages and Wetpaint manages the rest. After integrating Wetpaint Injected, socially published content will begin to appear as your community starts contributing together

A few lines of code added to your web server page is the primary integration point. This code includes scripts that retrieve the latest content from the Wetpaint API. Each time a web browser requests a page from your web server the scripts within your server page retrieve the content for display. The code also includes JavaScript libraries which know how to display the content once it is displayed in the web browser

    Integration Requirements:

Wetpaint Injected allows any website to incorporate Wetpaint features. Implementing Wetpaint Injected requires access to your server pages and some basic web API programming skills. Wetpaint Injected APIs are RESTful and can be accessed from many programming languages. Wetpaint provides sample code in Java, PHP and .NET.

    Interface Formats

Three types of interface formats are available that allow direct access to Wetpaint Injected content and user data. You may mix and match these methods throughout a site.

Note: Before you get started, you must download and review the Interaction Guide. It will give you a basic understanding of the features and functionality made available by Wetpaint Injected.

    Server-side Includes

To easily allow search engine access to your user-generated content, server-side includes apply browser-ready HTML to your server pages. Because the content is rendered with the rest of your page, it may be crawled and indexed by search engines, which then attribute the content to your domain. The HTML content returned by this API may also include the user controls and JavaScript necessary to engage the Wetpaint Injected interactive capabilities, such as the Wetpaint WYSIWYG Content Editor. Standard server-side include snippets provide the quickest and easiest option for most developers to integrate Wetpaint Injected capabilities.

    Data Access APIs

Data access calls can be made from your server-side code, providing you with access to granular features and data. Using RESTful commands, your data can be created, retrieved, updated, or deleted programmatically. The response from these c

  4. You can create a free Yahoo E- group.

You then can control membership to the link, like just for your own students to use.

The links you want students to use, can be pasted inside the "description" of the E-group, for easy reference.

You can upload files and send messages to everyone in the group, such as class assigments, or an email that has links pasted inside the email.

Any reply sent from that message also goes to entire group, so if you want students to email assignments or files directly to you, you need your own email address, like at your school, for replies.

The Yahoo e-groups also can list files with links in them.

Yahoo is pretty permanet, but you can delete old members, if the classes change, or start a new egroup for different classes even.

You can also create webpages using comcast or any IPS servicer that you may belong too, it's free, part of your monthly fees, and setting them up is pretty user-friendly.
