  1. Yes, you can.

In Texas you do NOT have to have a degree in education.  You need a Bachelor's degree in anything.  If it is not in education, you go through an alternative certification program through one of the universities, your school district (if it has one), or through your region (like Region IV ESC).  You will be required to have a certain number of hours in the field you want to teach, but with your major you will easily have enough science hours.

  2. It all depends where you are and the needs of your community.  Different states have different requirements.  Many areas are looking for science related teachers.  Regardless, it would be very beneficial to take some education classes while in school. It will give you a heads up in what to expect, and how to deal with issues.  Also there is a lot of legal stuff that you should be aware of.  Talk to the people in the education office at your college.  They will be able to tell you exactly what classes you should add, and also the standards for your community.  Teaching isn't some breeze of a job and you don't want to go in, not knowing what to expect.  Good luck!

  3. In Texas , you would have to have some kind of degree in Education with a specialty in biology or get alternative degree inTeaching
