  2. There are many types of questions that relate to this on here....

It is ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE that you must have a bachelor's of education to teach.  While the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) laws have upped the ante so to speak on teacher certification criteria, many states have alternate program to get people into teaching.  I myself am a product of these types of programs with only a degree in English and Psychology.

I worked in other fields six years out of college.  I then went through an extensive process, including taking the teacher's test, and got into a boot camp type of teacher's program.  I spent a summer teaching summer school in the morning (with an experienced co-teacher), and taking workshop classes in the afternoon.  When I was done I had an emergency certification.  I then had to do a portfolio to get my initial state certification. Later I had to get a masters (within my first five years of holding my initial cert - mine is in English, although I am considering going back for administration certification).

The issue however is what field you are interested in.  Many states no longer have emergency programs for core classes such as History and English as those teachers are now a dime a dozen.  However, Math and Science teachers are desperately needed and such programs run for them still.  States want people who are in math and science fields to make the switch to teaching.  Honestly, I'm not sure what is going down these days for primary school teachers.  There were some in my cohort when I got my emergency certification but I don't know what it's like in the job field now - although I do know there is a great need for Special Education teachers at ALL levels.

You need to research what is available in your state and at your local college (they will sometimes sponser state approved emergency certification programs). The best way to do this is to go to your local Department of Education web page (on a search engine type in your city or state and "department of education" ).

    Good luck!

  3. you can't teach in a school district as an actual lead teacher (ie, not being an aide) without a bachelors in education and passing whatever standardized testing is required for your state.

you could teach at a daycare or something like that though.

a bachelors is typically a 4 year program, including student teaching. with a 5 years masters program, you can receive a bachelors degree in 4 years, but not be qualified to get your license because you do your student teaching in your 5th year.

i think i've answered your question but it's difficult to understand with all the intials and misspellings, so many you can clarify your question.

  4. Depending on where you live, you may need a BA/BSc before you get your BEd.  In Canada, many university's offer a BEd on its own, or a combined BEd with another degree, and it will take 4-5 years at least usually.

If you fail out of your BSc it will be hard to be accepted into another university though, especially an education program.
