I am a teacher in Texas. I received a misdemeanor(Class B)for a DWI.I want to move back to Alabama to become a principal. If the judge seals my conviction would my arrest show up when the people from Alabama run a background check? If the judge does not seal my conviction would Alabama find out? Would a DWI keep me from working in education in Alabama?

  1. Since this offense is a misdemeanor, you are eligible for an expungment.  If granted, it shows that your conviction was dismissed in the interests of justice.  You can apply for this at the court where your case was heard.

As for any background checks and/or questions about your criminal history, just be sure to read the question carefully and answer honestly.  Many employers won't hire you if they find that you were dishonest on your application.

One DUI should not be a problem but multiple DUI's are a whole different situation.

  2. shouldnt affect your job . who knows . and you cant get it sealed for seven years i beleave . and then still left up to judge .and if not sealed yes every arrest will  show up
