Teachers, are your blackboards magnetic?

I'm doing an extra credit game for a class and I think he mentioned that we use magnets to hold it up on the board, but I'm not sure.

Is your blackboard magnetic?

I really don't want my project to be a flop just cause it won't stick.

  1. well at my school.... they are! my math teaher hangs stuff on the bored that way... im almost positive every black board i have seen is.... you can always hang stuff on the top metal piece!

  2. When I first started teaching I had an old-fashioned slate chalkboard that was NOT magnetic.  A few years later it was replaced by a newer version that was.  I now have a "White Board" (the kind that uses dry erase markers) and it, too, is magnetic.

I'm guessing that if your school is relatively new, or has been recently renovated, it probably has magnetic boards. Just as a back up, I suggest you bring a few metal cookie sheets with you. If it turns out that the board in your school are not  magnetic, prop the cookie sheets on the ledge of the boards you do have and you'll be set to go.

  3. We have whiteboards, and they are magnetic.....  My old school had blackboards that were NOT magnetic.

  4. at my school we have white boards that are not magnetic.. we donot have any balckboards anymore

  5. No.  They are not magnetic, but there is a metal strip at the top that could be used with a magnet.  By the way, we usually refer to them as "CHALKboards" these days because they aren't always black.  But, where they exist, we do use chalk on them.
