Teachers, how far do you drive to work every day?

I recently got a teaching job two counties away from mine (though considered part of the same school district) and drive about an hour each way. It's about 24 miles, but in school traffic it takes a while. How far do you commute each day?

  1. Last year I drove 50 miles each way, 100 miles total so it was a little over an hour each way.  It really sucked especially when you had early duty and had to be there at 6:30 in the morning.  Not to mention filling up the gas tank twice a week.

This year I am at a school much closer.  It still takes about 30 minutes but that is in heavy traffic, which the road I travel always has.  If I had no traffic I could probably make it in 20 minutes.

  2. About 8,008 miles just to see my little students ohh.. and i do weed dont tell he he he

  3. i think you should try to stay up in one place...

  4. 20km

  5. 25 minutes away by car or 45 minutes by public transport

  6. It takes me about 3 minutes to drive to work.  I love living close to work.  It has come in handy a time or two when I slept through my alarm.

  7. I drive for 45 min. every day.

  8. My mom is a teacher and she drives 15 minutes to get there.

  9. I commute about 25 minutes to school and 25 minutes from school however the school and my home are fairly near to the freeway therefore the commute goes by quickly.  I think it is a good sacrifice especially since good schools are hard to find - so if you are happy then do it.

I get books on tape - children's books actually - and it makes my drive so much quicker and I'm keeping up on children's literature!

  10. thats pretty far mine is 30 min how are you going to manage this?? im a little worried because you would have to wake up very early! have enough rest and drive safely good luck to you!

  11. My aunt drives about 30-45 mins

  12. I drive 10 miles, it takes me 15-20 minutes.

  13. At my current school, I drive about 6 miles and it takes about 10 to 15 minutes if I get the traffic signals green.  I commuted for 8 years to a town 25 miles away and it took about 30 to 35 minutes to get there.  The commute was nice in a way since it gave me time to think in the morning and unwind in the afternoons.  With the cost of fuel these days, all commutes are pricey.

  16. 15 to 20 min.  You need to  move.
