Also - how does your school implement horizontal and vertical planning?

  1. Vertical planning is planning between grade levels.  Example: A third grade teacher will meet with 2nd grade and 4th grade to discuss and share curriculum and ideas.

    Horizontal planning is planning with in grade levels.  Example: meeting with all the 4th grade teachers in a building.

    My school does not call it this, but this is my understanding of the terms.  

    Also, my school has monthly planning meetings for each grade level (horizontal) and 2-3 times yearly we meet vertically.  It's very helpful as we move through the state guidelines for curriculum.
