  1. TA posts are graded according to the nature of the actual job.  The grades are set by the local authority and range from general assistant supporting a teacher with 'mundane' tasks such as setting out materials to a specialist supporting a child with profound and multiple needs.  You will have to contact the local authority for their pay scales and the school for details of the jobs.

  2. this is going to be totally different to what you're used to, and a real drop in pay!

a national pay scale for support assistants is being worked on, but has not yet been reached. you could check out the unison website, they are the union for non-teaching staff in schools.

if you're that qualified, why not do some supply work instead? the money is far better, and you don't have to do all the planning etc, and the hours would be about the same, if not more flexible, to allow you to continue with your studies.

  3. Most of the time the pay scale is set up by degree credentials and experience. The higher level of degrees... the more the pay. It works the same way for experience. The more experience... the more pay. Clearly this system has a scale that I'm unfamiliar with, so you may what to call personnel or payroll and consult with someone who knows that scale best. Good Luck!
