am a british citizen and have been offered a job in Abu Dhabi as a Grade 5 English Teacher. i am not qualified, however, i have 7 years experience in London. the school in UAE has offered me 9500 dhs per month plus a one bedroom fully furnished apartment, medical, one air ticket to home destination per annum and utility bills paid for. kindly advise if this is a good deal. What is life like for a teacher in abu dhabi? is it as stressful there as it is in London?

  1. A salary of AED9500 is very good if you do not have certificates and still getting a job based on experience. This is very rare these days. you will note that your colleagues are earning same with qualifications.

Everything else paid including accomodation is a superb offer I'd dare to say as it is not easy to get anything.

Your cost of living will not be more than 2-3k AED, so you can enjoy life.

Dont look just at the salary. You are leaving your country and going to  live in another. Look at the country, style and comfort of living as well.

THis country is safe, transport is easy, food in abundance. so why not?

You can even raise a family and your pay will grow as well.

being a teacher, you can offer parttime courses and earn extra bonus.

School start very early and ends early, long holidays, fixed curriculum based on either US,Uk or Indian. So quite easy.you'll enjoy school bus tranport if you need.

There is no authority to regulate what you do, kids are more well behaved esp at young age and mixed nationalities depending on which school you are employed.

Apart from the curriculum and duty of care, you are much more free.

  2. it sounds a pretty good deal, u are getting about £1500 per month spending money so as long as u dont have a 5star lifestyle it should be fine. u dont mention what type of school u r going to but if it s british curriculum u will find them better than british schools, classes are small and there is individual attention, its not so pressured as in the uk and the behaviour of the children is much bettter. however some of the non british or western curruiculum schools can treat teachers quite badly from my experience.

  3. well, they gave u a place, and everything else paid... its a good deal for a teacher who says is not qualified.... living there is enjoyed by many westerners who even raise families there... i think its a good offer....

  4. 9500 dhs is nothing these days you can't save nothing

and you are not qualified, how the h**l they offered you the job!!

Don't come if you are not good and qualified enough for the job!!
