  1. That is a classic interview question.  The answer will depend on the agegroup you are teaching, your teaching style, and the school's philosophy/ priorities.

    Are the students on task?

    Are they engaged?

Are you at the front teaching, or monitoring students as they work independently, in pairs, or in groups?

Do you have student work on the wall?

Do you have a schedule posted?  Lesson objectives?

Is it always the same in your classroom, or do you vary your activities?

  2. Children who know the expectations and procedures for my class.  Mutual respect between students and a teacher.  Students would begin with a quick warm-up review, bell ringer. I would probably be walking around to check progress and homework that may be due.  You would hear and see a connection to the previous day's lesson and an introduction to what goals we would be learning on this day. Next, you would see a lot of small group activities that have been clearly defined and include a rubric for student grading.  Students may be loud but not yelling.  They would be actively engaged and learning to express what they know in a variety of ways.  Students would be sharing their group activities and teaching key concepts to the class.  I would follow up with clarification and expansion as needed for the concept. I would bring closure to the lesson and provide homework as appropriate.  Students would leave the room with a "ticket out the door" activity of some type to assess what they learned during the class.  It would be a fun class with a lot of student engagement that helps keep students wanting to learn.

  3. A room of kids, a t.A. and a teacher. if they are working I am at my desk reading the info for the next lesson. No Kidding! Next year will be my second year with that curriculum so I wont have to prepare as much. But you will find students, books, pencil shavings on the floor. Someone out their seat at the tissue box, someone asking can they go to the restroom, someone actually completed with all assignments and reading, some reading and havent completed anything!

  4. 2 students with a pile of books and a love of learning but then we home school!

  5. except for the furnishings , you might find the janitorial staff.. School is out for the summer vacation

I guess that is why you are here asking questions too :-P
