  1. nothing to do with being a teacher, having people openly say they hate you would upset even those who claim to have a thick skin

if you're the subject of the hate, I'd complain to myspace

if you're the one who hates, find something more positive to do with your time, the consequences of harbouring hate are usually negative, for a light hearted view read the chapter about Mrs Twit in Roald Dahl's The Twits

  2. Both.  I know that students are young and expect them to immature at times, but it would still hurt a lot to think that someone disliked me that much.

  3. Teachers aren't there to be liked-teaching is not a popularity contest.

If someone is there to relive their own school days they need to find another job and invest in therapy.

If-and only if a student is posting something threatening or damaging to a teacher's integrity should the teacher bring attention to it.

  4. well, ur obviously doing something wrong if that's the case....  most teacher's who were B-words in my past had big power trips and never related to the kids.. how many other teachers have a hate group about them?(rhetorical question) ....Few

  5. I think anyone would be hurt by that.  And that's considered libel, which is illegal.  So not a good idea.

  6. Its a double edge sword. You want to be a good teacher and when poeple disparage you, you want to defend yourself.

Hurt? to a point. and Yes, the kids are immature, but, kids today don't see consequences. They see this as a way to try and GET their way. Today's kids want things now. They don't really want to have to "put the nose to the grind stone".

I know their are also teachers who couldn't teach their way out a wet paper bag with instructions and a 2 day head start.

Its a mean nasty world out there. The "milk of human kindness" really is hard to find.

  7. I would find it strange that a bunch of 2nd graders would be doing this, but ...oh well. I would report it and leave it at that.

  8. Oh I wouldn't get too offended.

I once had a group of girls get together and write to the principal asking that I be fired because I set them consequences for something they did.   I found the letter, started laughing and read it out to the class and asked the kids if anyone else wanted to sign it before I took it to the principal myself.  The principal and I had a great laugh about it.   By the end of the year the girls and I got on so well.

Be comfortable in who you are, you certainly don't need the kid's approval

  9. This happened to a teacher friend of mine.  What was really painful was that it was her 10 year old daughter who found her fake "page."  Her 10 year old was reading these offensive things about her Mommy.

Through the court system we did find the students who did it.  It is libel and it is illegal.

It might seem funny to those who are doing it, but there is a difference between gossiping, chatting, and complaining to friends about a teacher and writing hate on the world wide web.

That being said, teachers don't need the approval of students. Finding this should not be devastating to the teacher.

  10. neither. you need to change
