  1. I student taught at The American Foundation School of Guadalajara, in Guadalajara, Mexico.  It was a great experience and such a great resume builder.   It led me to a career teaching ESL in California.  There were many teachers there from the states and they had a good social network.  I think dating was difficult for many of them, especially women because there were more women that worked at the school than men, and many of them didn't speak Spanish, so they mostly hung out with each other.  I think it is a great experience, but even in the short time I was there, it could be isolating.

This year I will be attending an overseas job fair at University of Northern Iowa to look at teaching English abroad.  You can at least talk to schools and they can give you an idea of what it might be like to work in that particular country.  You can check out which schools will be at the job fair at the website below.

  2. I can't tell you because I never did it. But, what I can tell you is that I had the oppurtunity and I passed it up. I really regret that now. I'm 30 and married with kids and love LOVE my life, but I wish I would have traveled more.
