Hiya, I'm currently still in secondary school, but I'm hoping to start a degree in modern languages (French, German or Japanese) - preferably next year, but failing that I'll put in another year of school. Ultimately my goal is to travel/possibly live abroad for a while, hopefully in Asia, so I've been looking into teaching English as a foreign language in that region and I was wondering - is this usually done as a full-time job? I don't mean any offense but looking at the average wages (£400 a month?) I couldn't imagine how anyone could make this their living.

  1. Tem is absolutely right. Check out the jobs available...

    http://www.tefl.com/

  2. if you want to teach English in Asia. you are going to find a job quickly. you are right they don't pay you much but if you worked as a tutor( a private teacher) you are going to get much money because private lessons are very expensive. don't go to a poor country because in poor countries they don't care about learning so you are not going to get any money.

try your best and good luck.

  3. have a look here http://www.vaughanvillage.com/ETP/index....

teaching Spaniards English it's free but you have to get to Madrid.

  4. I have been teaching Business English full-time in Germany for 7 years now and I make probably 6-7 times that much.  Get yourself a recognized TEFL qualification and get to Germany - we have so much work here, it's crazy!

  5. goods  are  cheap  in  other  countries,  and  there's  not  many  bills  to  pay..food  is  also  cheap  and  think  of  the  private  lessons  u  would  be  giving  and  the  money  earned  from  that.
