Question:

Teaching English for the GEPIK Program?

Does anyone have experience teaching for the GEPIK (Gyeonggi English Program In Korea) program? How do you rate the program? Was it a positive experience? What were some of the challenges of teaching at a public school (classroom discipline, lesson planning, etc.)? Are there any websites dedicated to foreign English teachers working for the GEPIK program? I appreciate all insights. Thanks.

Regards,

A. Osborne

  1. I HIGHLY recommend GEPIK or anything that isn't a hagwon, i.e. private cram school.  Mine is h**l on earth and its certainly not the worst out there.  I know public can be frustrating what with a korean co-teacher always in the classroom and large classes of students at vastly different levels, but, still, its much better than hagwon h**l.  I'm not sure about any sites specifically devoted to GEPIK, but if you haven't found it yet, dave's esl forum, can provide a lot of helpful information.
