  1. You should know English.

And I suppose that it wouldn't hurt to know some Korean. How fast can you become fluent in a foreign language?

  2. I have a friend teaching over there.  One thing he says to warn teachers about is that most English schools are run more like a business than a school.  He has to be careful that employers honor contracts and he doesn't get many holidays.  You'll want to ask about that straight up, as well as salary and benifits.

On the other hand, he is able to earn a decent living and his school pays for his apartment.  He has the opportunity of learning about a great culture.
